David has his B.A. in History from Middle Tennessee State
University (MTSU) and his M.A. in Marriage and Family
Therapy, specialization in Christian Sex Therapy, from the
Psychological Studies Institute (PSI). He is currently a Sex
Therapy Internist under the American Board of Christian Sex
Therapists (ABCST). He is an active member of Sexual
Wholeness Inc., where he serves as a Teaching Assistant.
David has written and published, as well as spoken at
national conferences, on such issues as adolescent sexual
development, singleness, and same-sex attractions. David
also has appeared on the Caring for Teens God’s Way video
series for the American Association of Christian Counselors
(AACC) talking on healthy sexuality.
Having worked in counseling center and hospital settings,
David's focus is issues involving sexual concerns, personal
identity, family conflict, and physical well-being. He enjoys
working with a wide range of people but particularly likes
young couples and families with teenagers. In doing therapy,
David uses imagery, metaphor, and story as ways to help
people see their lives and new solutions. David also
integrates his counseling with his faith in Christ to help
people along their journey.
Originally from Knoxville, David enjoys the mountains, old
movies, good books, conversations about anything and
sometimes just being lazy with his wife, Brandy. David is also
an amateur novelist and songwriter who loves to see how art
and story reflect how God has designed all of our lives and
shape how he is guiding our futures.
