Through his own life experiences, Alex has come to understand that life is complex. He also knows that everyone can use the help of a trained professional in life’s darkest moments and uncertainties. Alex's approach to counseling is relational in style. Working from a biblical framework and a clinical approach, Alex sees it important for his clients to engage with themselves as a whole person. He pulls from many counseling theories to help his clients move towards their goals.
Alex is known for his passion for people and wishes for his clients to be truly seen, heard, known, and valued. Personally, Alex has dealt with depression, anxiety, and loss. In turn, the experiences helped shape his interest in walking alongside those struggling in all aspects of life.
Alex is experienced in working with clients in all stages of life, including adults, couples, parents, and adolescents. His areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, childhood development, body image, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, self-harm, suicidal ideation, guilt, shame, spirituality, sexuality, and relational conflict. He also enjoys meeting with, pastors, missionaries, and others in vocational ministry as to provide a place of rest and encouragement.
Alex was born and raised in Orlando, FL where he first felt called to care for others in unique ways, though it was not until college that he knew exactly what God was calling him to. After graduating from Appalachian State University, Alex went on staff with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) at the University of Tennessee! After seeing that he wanted additional training in caring for people, he decided to attend Reformed Theological Seminary Orlando where he graduated with a Masters of Arts in Counseling and is currently working towards a Masters in Theology. Alex loves discovering new local restaurants, going to the mountains, and is a connoisseur of donuts. He and his wife Abbie enjoy learning how to be parents to their newborn son, going to their favorite spots in Knoxville, and communing with friends.
