COUNSELORS AT EBENEZER
Below you will find a brief introduction to our counselors, including the areas of therapy that they specialize in. At Ebenezer, all counselors work from the foundation of their Christian faith and worldview. Our counselors are either licensed, or are in supervision as they work state licensure. As an element of licensure as well as commitment to quality services our counselor pursue continuing education on an ongoing basis. Dale Berry, Ph.d.
Dale Berry is a Licensed Psychologist and is the clinical director of Ebenezer Counseling Services. Dr. Berry started his practice in 1996, and in 1998, the practice developed into a group named Ebenezer Counseling Services and has grown into a multi-service practice with the goal of serving the greater Knoxville community.
Lisa Duke, M.S.
Lisa Duke is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She works with both individuals and couples, focusing on anxiety, depression, abuse, and eating disorders. Lisa also works with identity and spiritual formation. She also has a special interest in working with couples through premarital counseling.
Eileen S. Bowman, L.M.S.W.
Eileen S. Bowman is a Licensed Master Social Worker, in supervision working towards being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She works with individuals, couples and families and a variety of issues such as work, sexual abuse, post-abortive issues, sex therapy, and general family issues. Eileen also specializes in working with couples in crisis.
Martha Catherine Dagenhart, Ph.D.
Martha Catherine Dagenhart is a Licensed Psychologist. She specializes in working with depression, anxiety, grief, spiritual concerns as well as career exploration. Martha also has a strong interest in personality and cognitive assessments.
Kevin MIschler, M.S.
Kevin Mischler is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He specializes in helping bring about reconciliation within relationships, as well as in fostering self-awareness and spiritual growth. Kevin does a lot of work with couples, including premarital counseling. He also works with issues related to depression and anxiety.
Richard Petsch, M.S.
Richard is a counselor in supervision working towards licensure, and is the assistant clinical director of Ebenezer. He works with a broad spectrum of clients including children, adolescents, families, and adults. Richard is passionate about helping to bring about unity and peace within marriages and families.
Gretchen Norris, M.S.
Gretchen Norris (formerly Fromke) is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She specializes in offering relational and interpersonal counseling to individuals, couples, and families. Gretchen’s clinical interests include grief, loss, anxiety and depression, as well as spiritual concerns.
Emily King, M.A.
Emily king is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Her passion is working with new moms through postpartum depression and anxiety, as well as with parenting issues. Emily seeks to work from an integrative perspective focusing on all the needs of her clients. She also works in areas of marriage and sex therapy.
Jackie Johnson, M.A.
Jackie Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She specializes working with trauma, and is trained in EMDR. Jackie also works with individuals, and couples facing issues related to anxiety, depression, grief, as well as spiritual concerns.
Anneke Moody, L.M.S.W.
Anneke Moody is a Licensed Master Social Worker, in supervision working towards being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She enjoys working with preteens, teenagers, college students and young adults. Anneke also focuses on helping clients identify their goals and work toward meeting them. She is trained in working with trauma and life transitions.
Lauren Brakebill, M.A.
Lauren is a counselor in supervision working towards licensure. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, body image, eating disorders, codependency, self-harm, guilt, shame, spirituality, and relational conflict. Lauren is a trained in EMDR.
Travis Kobler, M.S.
Travis Kobler is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He approaches counseling from a holistic, relational perspective. Travis specializes in working with adolescents and family dynamics. He also focuses on addiction, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and men’s issues.
Barbara Davis, M.S.
Barbara Davis is a counselor in supervision working towards licensure. She offers counseling from a holistic perspective focusing on all the parts of a client’s life. Barbara specializes in addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention as well as in eating disorders and nutrition. She also focuses on women’s issues and trauma.
Leigh Ann FosteR, L.C.S.W
Leigh Ann Foster is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She specializes in working with children and families, providing individualized care from within a Christian perspective. Leigh Ann’s clinical focus includes play therapy, autism spectrum disorders, obsessive disorders, and social skills difficulties.
Leah giles, L.M.S.W.
Leah Giles is a Licensed Master Social Worker, in supervision working towards being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She approaches counseling with a focus on the whole person: mind, body, and spirit, and seeks to come come alongside clients in the journey toward holistic healing. Leah’s focus is on children, adolescents, and young adults as well as issues of anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
Katy Oliver, L.M.S.W.
Katy Oliver is a Licensed Master Social Worker, in supervision working towards being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is passionate about empowering people as they overcome struggles and barriers in their lives. Katy specializes in working with women in all stages of life with a focus on anxiety, depression, body image, spirituality, life transitions, and career exploration.
Josh Beeler, M.S.
Josh Beeler is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He works with children and teens in areas of divorce, separation, relationships and behavioral concerns. Josh works with concerns related to school, ADHD, as well as trauma, and faith. He also works with adults and families through anxiety, depression, life transitions, and trauma.
April Ella, M.S.
April Ella is a counselor in supervision working towards licensure. She loves working with teens, college students, couples, and women of all ages. April’s clinical focus includes relationships, infertility issues or pregnancy loss, dealing with illness, guilt & shame, eating disorders, grief and loss, as well as anxiety, depression, and self-harm.
John BRower, M.S.
John is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He specializes in helping those who are struggling with compulsive behaviors of all kinds, including drugs, alcohol, sex, and gambling. John also works in areas of trauma, sexual compulsivity, same-sex attraction, paraphilia, guilt and shame, as well as general anxiety and depression.
Amy Cofer, M.A.
Amy Cofer is a counselor in supervision working towards licensure. She is passionate about helping adolescents and adults navigate difficult life situations while growing emotionally and spiritually. Amy’s clinical focus includes women’s issues, anxiety and depression, infertility, and spirituality.
Lisa Matthews, M.S.
Lisa Matthews is a licensed professional counselor. She works with clients in all stages of life, including individuals, couples, and families. Lisa’s clinical focus includes anxiety, loneliness, relationship and family issues, postpartum adjustment, adoption and foster care, as well as spiritual wellness and growth.
Alex Gottfried, M.A.
Alex is a counselor in supervision working toward licensure. He is passionate about working with children, adolescents, parents, couples, families, and individuals. Alex specializes in working with those affected by depression, anxiety, trauma, family distress, relationships, and processing life transitions with his clients.
Interns at Ebenezer are students who are still pursuing their master’s or doctoral degrees and are in the later stages of their education. Interns are supervised within their training program, as well as by licensed therapists on staff at Ebenezer. Interns offer quality services, and by bringing them on staff we have an active role in training the next generation of therapists and counselors.
Patricia is an intern completing her Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Tennessee. Her passion is working with adolescents and children, with a particular interest in evidence-based Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) for young children.
Patricia Wade is an intern completing her Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling at Liberty University. She has a passion for working with women and young adults in a college setting. Patricia has a particular interest in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), and the Enneagram
