Laura was born and raised in Knoxville. She attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with a B.S. majoring in Child and Family Studies. She went on to become a Certified Child Life Specialist, and worked at East Tennessee Children’s hospital for nine years. Laura loved the work she did at the hospital and the ability to work with patients and families during some of their most challenging times of life.

In 2020, Laura married her husband and moved to Virginia, where she worked for a Christian non-profit called Edify. During her time at Edify, she felt a deep calling to go back to school for counseling. Laura and her husband returned to Tennessee, and she enrolled in Belmont’s Mental Health Counseling Program. She completed the Marriage and Family Therapy track which combined therapy and Laura’s background working with children and families. Laura chose Marriage and Family Therapy because she believes it helps to see the whole person when you are keeping their system in mind. Laura is working towards licensure under Sarah Criss, PhD, LMFT License #1077, SarahCrissCounseling@gmail.com 615-283-0531.

Laura sees her therapy room as a sacred space and it is an honor to work with clients. She hopes to create a space that people feel loved, accepted, and heard. We all encounter suffering but we don’t have to endure it alone.
